Winter Blues: Defeated

Anyone living in Vancouver right now will agree we have been living in various shades of grey.  Barely a day of sunshine for what little hours of light we have at this time of year.  So I took matters into my own hands and travelled South to Mexico.  Of course my style of travel is not the commercial playgrounds created for the American Tourist.  So I was lucky enough to be invited to this small enclave Costa Careyes, which is an 1.5 hours north of Manzanillo.  What made the trip interesting was the eccentric mix of uber-rich characters that have checked out from the mainstream and live their days on this beautiful coast, as well as the proximity to the local people and fresh food.  This area is an ecological sanctuary, so their are no monster hotels.  The nights are filled with the sound of crashing waves, crickets, and the remaining night creatures roaming their territory. If you are the traveller that likes to gather a group of friends, there are great houses here to rent, each with a unique design and view of the ocean, that include butler service, and a chef.  This is the perfect spot for ultimate relaxation, and beautiful sunshine.  http://www.careyes.com/
